[PC] Normality (1996)

How:

Got on GOG during winter sales.

Pros:
- Nice puzzles overall
- Several cut-scenes
- Cool old school 3D graphics
- Overall good, carefree mood even during the darker bits

Cons:
- Repetitive music
- Confusing controls and interface, easy to miss stuff
- Bad field of view

A Gigerish corridor in a very brief game section!

[PC] Atlantis: The Lost Tales (1997)

How:

Read about it on Adventuregamers, got on GOG during a promo.

Note:
I played the "extended cut" version, which is an unofficial patch that fixes some bugs and adds back some unused music and dialogue.

Pros:
- Just the old school graphics I like
- Great atmospheric music
- Lots of cutscenes

Cons:
- Lots of bugs and glitches, even with the patch installed
- Annoying action scenes to complete via trial & error
- Unfair, obscure puzzles

At one point you dress up like a woman, and the character even makes a falsetto voice.

[PC] Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars (1996)

How:
Got for free on GOG during a giveaway.

Pros:
- Great graphics and excellent animations
- Good puzzles overall
- Likable main character
- Nice and relaxed pace but still gives a sense of adventure

Cons:
- Very slow movement
- Unclear red herrings
- Some pixel hunting and unfairly obscure puzzles (e.g. you must use the bathroom keys to open a towel dispenser without even knowing the towel dispenser can be opened)
- I didn't care for the templar historical story line

A totally unexpected innuendo

[PC] Randal's Monday (2014)

How:

Got it on GOG during a winter sale.
Pros:
- Very smooth animations
- Some nice puzzles
Cons:
- Overly long and tedious, had to use a walkthrough to stop the pain
- Tries hard to be funny
- Unlikable characters
- Uninteresting plot
- Too much f*cking dialogue
- Some illogical puzzles
- Too many in-game citations to pop culture

The only fun part was to see Death in game.

[PC] Cruise for a Corpse (1991)

How:

Heard about it since Amiga times.

Pros:
- Great graphics and smooth animations

Cons:
- Important items and characters appear and disappear depending on the time of day (e.g. searching someone's laundry yields a newspaper piece only after talking to the priest)
- Tons of useless and misleading items
- Some annoying pixel hunting
- Illogical puzzles
- Bad storytelling
- Annoying music
- Bad English translation

[FM-Towns] Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders (1988)

How:

Heard about it since Amiga times, got on a GOG summer sale.

Pros:
- Nice puzzles, some have multiple solutions
- Nice graphics
- Some ideas will later appear in Monkey Island (e.g. the cannibals in MI1, the mazes in MI2, the two-headed squirrel, the monkey wrench, ...)

Cons:
- Too many dead ends
- Too many mazes, which are also very difficult to map
- The need for money for traveling makes the game unnecessarily difficult

[PC] Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards (1987)

How:
Played Larry 3 in the past, got the entire collection on GOG.

Pros:
- Some fun situations (e.g. the flasher, the dance)
- Some nice puzzles
- Just the right game length

Cons:
- Slow movement
- Some walking dead scenarios
- Some random encounters carry important items
- Need precise wording for solving puzzles

Once again, I didn't get a full score in a Sierra game.

- Walking dead scenarios
- Many red herrings

[Amiga] Curse of Enchantia (1992)

How:
Heard about it since Amiga times.

Pros:
- Nice graphics and smooth animations
- Silly humor

Cons:
- No dialogues
- Very illogical puzzles
- Cumbersome gameplay with unclear actions, mostly trial and error
- Too many red herrings
- No item descriptions, sometimes it's difficult to understand the graphics

Trapped in a coffin. Actually, asking for help doesn't help.

[Mac] Enchanted Scepters (1986)

How:
Found while browsing a book on adventure games.

Note:
Credited to be the first point-and-click adventure game. Actually, it seems like "La Souris Golotte" came first.

Pros:
- Nice challenge with some almost unfairly difficult puzzles

Cons:
- Too much randomness
- Fights require no skill
- Some very crude graphics
- Weird mixture of typing and mouse commands

This might also be the first appearance of a talking head in an adventure game.

I finished the game with experience 3950 and wealth 1356, no idea what that means.
