[PC] Normality (1996)

How:

Got on GOG during winter sales.

Pros:
- Nice puzzles overall
- Several cut-scenes
- Cool old school 3D graphics
- Overall good, carefree mood even during the darker bits

Cons:
- Repetitive music
- Confusing controls and interface, easy to miss stuff
- Bad field of view

A Gigerish corridor in a very brief game section!

[PC] Primordia (2012)

How:
Heard about it on WadjetEye website, got during a Flash Deal at GOG.com.
Pros:
- Excellent voice overs, dialogues and writing
- Nice graphics
- Likable characters and humor
- Very good puzzles, some of which can be quite challenging
- Multiple puzzle solutions
- Fitting music (although very derivative of Blade Runner and the like)
- Cool atmosphere and deep in-game history
- An awesome audio scene in which you communicate via a radio transmitter with a voiceless robot named Gimbal
- A very engaging plot
- Some nice (although sparse) cut-scenes
Cons:
- Mediocre character animations
- Characters retain high resolution when they decrease in size, spoiling the old-school look & feel
- Awful final song (as usual with WadjetEye)

On our way to Metropol. Cut-scenes are nice, but short and rare.

[Amiga][PC] Nippon Safes Inc. (1993)

How:
Played it on the Amiga several times as a kid, but never managed to finish it.
Pros:
- Excellent graphics and nice animations
- Overall a pleasant and relaxing adventure
- The Amiga version, although with no music, has simple sound effects which somehow help to establish the right adventurous mood
- The "Parallaction" system is actually nice: you play a parallel sequence of events from three different perspectives, with the characters interacting with each other
- Some nice puzzles
Cons:
- Pixel hunting needed in several occasions
- Few hot spots, and repetitive locations
- In-game jokes about the programmers and the game itself completely break the mood
- Not clear which places can be explored (e.g. in front of the prison at the beginning you can go left or right, but it all looks the same), can leap places by accident (this happens frequently)
- Not very intuitive interface, especially for combining objects
- Actions cannot be interrupted, plus path-finding is sometimes annoying
- Some graphical glitches and bugs
- Japanese language is used incorrectly
- Items have no description
- Some obtuse puzzles
- The PC version has some very annoying and distracting music, and no sound effects

The "Kinza" ticket is in fact a ticket for Ueno (上野).

Not surprisingly, this Italian game also features political references.
A statue of Andreotti is also appearing in the museum.

And this is where the title of the game comes from.

[PC] Quantumnauts (2010)

How:
Bought both Quantumnauts games from the official website after playing Oz Orwell.
Note:
Played the Italian version.
Pros:
- Nice puzzles
- Nice story and setting
- Cut-scenes have good quality
- I have a weak spot for this graphical style
- Some cool situations (e.g. the talking statues near the end)
- Gameplay never gets boring or monotonous
- Some red herrings
- The game actually manages to get funny once the player realizes it is meant to be a comedy
Cons:
- Many typos and grammatical errors even in the original language (Italian)
- Text is too small and difficult to read
- The main character often stands in front of interactive objects, must move him away all the time
- Animations are not smooth at all
- No sound effects
- Some annoying pixel hunting (e.g. the crack in the cave)
- Very slow navigation
- Missing descriptions with most actions
- Humor is sometimes out of place

[PSP] Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together (2011)

How:
The game was frequently mentioned on review websites and forums, bought it for 5€ at Gamestop as a first game for the PSP for long trips.
Pros:
- Huge replayability value with loads of extra contents
- Extremely non-linear
- Can be very challenging
- Epic final battle
- Some very good in-game graphics and special effects especially near the end
- Very good character portraits
- Can revisit past events and undertake new paths to get different outcomes
- A lot of different classes, skills, magic spells, items, and so on
- Many special moves that gradually unlock with experience
- Economy works well
- The game records all previous events, dialogues and cut-scenes
Cons:
- The story is very contrived, full of difficult-to-memorize names, and dialogues that are extremely hard to follow
- Sometimes when action happens at the borders of the screen, you cannot see who's aiming at who and what's the induced effect (you only know a posteriori)
- Music is boringly epic
- Some of the game mechanics are too tedious to be actually usable (e.g. recipes, beast hunting)
- Some character classes cannot use certain magic spells for no apparent reason, even if the spell can be learned and the character has the right magic skills
- Not being able to see the map/enemies before entering the battle field greatly reduces the strategic value of the game (e.g. entering a map full of undead without bringing someone able to exorcize them)
- Grinding new characters for experience can be very difficult as the game progresses, since enemy strength is balanced with the player's strength

[DS] Professor Layton and the Unwound Future (2008)

How:
Just the well advertised sequel to a game which I enjoyed in its previous installments.
Pros:
- Nice story, well integrated with the puzzles, gameplay never gets boring
- A lot of cut-scenes
- Nice mini-games
- Very long
- Sheds a new light on Layton's past and Luke, endowing them with a real personality
- Puzzles are well balanced
Cons:
- Sometimes contradictory in a creepy way, all feelings are rationalized in an unsettling manner
- Flora is for some reason frequently forgotten and overlooked, she mostly feels (and is treated) like a pain in the ass
- All revolves around the cardinal and awkward concept of "being a gentleman", spoiling the good moments in the story

[PC] Alter Ego (2010)

Pros:
- Beautiful graphics
- Gloomy, dark mood
- Tension builds up nicely as theories are made and the mystery unravels
- Great voiceover
- Quite entertaining from start to end
Cons:
- A bit too much on the easy side
- Music should be more present throughout
- Some animation glitches
- The ending is totally unrewarding
- With a few touches this could have been one of the best horror adventures ever

[PC] Machinarium (2009)

Pro:
- Grafica, animazioni e musica stupende
- Enigmi e mini-game divertenti e non troppo semplici
- Storia semplice e simpatica
- Incredibile attenzione al dettaglio
Contro:
- Troppo corto
- A volte l'interfaccia è poco responsiva

[PC] Blade Runner (1997)

Pro:
- Storia e sceneggiatura ovviamente uniche
- Grafica, ambientazioni e musica magnifiche
- Enigmi belli, molto divertente il sistema di raccolta indizi tramite KIA ed Esper
- Cut-scene di ottimo impatto
- Scelte non lineari e finali diversi
- Doppiaggio di altissimo livello
- Altamente coinvolgente, longevo e rigiocabile
Contro:
- Alcune parti arcade richiedono riflessi pronti
- I personaggi sono piuttosto pixellosi
