I uncovered two knock-code messages (BYDHANNAN and LOVEU), but couldn't use them anywhere.
Pros:
- Nice FMV based gameplay, quite immersive
- Interesting investigation
Cons:
- The actress is not very good
- Very difficult to uncover all the tapes, you end up with trying random words

Note:
Finished the game with max energy, final password TQNGFVC.
Pros:

- Weird humor
- Some tough puzzles with several red herrings
- Good for quick game sessions
Cons:
- Solving puzzles is mostly a matter of trial and error
- Little music and sound effects

[PC] Neighbours from Hell (2003)

How:
Found about it on GOG.
Pros:
- Nice tense puzzle solving; if this was horror-themed, it would be very effective
- The episodic format enables quick game sessions
- Reasonably funny and lighthearted
Cons:
- Once all tricks are found, getting 100% rating boils down to finding out the exact sequence

I got the golden statue in all seasons, but no outro video for me.

[PC] Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender Bender (1992)

How:
Got on GOG on a Black Friday sale.
Pros:
- Nice sci-fi setting
- Nice minimalistic background music
- Nice graphics and animations
Cons:

- Basic inventory-oriented puzzles
- Fonts are large and hard to read

Taking a leak - first time ever in a game?
Cosmic innuendos.

I thought the scribblings would be password or coordinates, but apparently they appear in other Microprose adventures (e.g. Dragonsphere).

[PC] Thimbleweed Park (2017)

How:
Got from a friend's Humble Bundle.
Note:
I got the repair kit from the hotel room by exploiting a bug that would leave the door open, without having the ghost zap the electric lock.
Pros:
- Nice graphics
- Several references to classics in the form of puzzles (e.g. the sheet of paper flying away)
- High degree of (at least perceived) non-linearity
- Nice multi-character puzzle design
- Memorable clown character
- Too many red herrings
- Nice puzzles
Cons:
- Music doesn't loop well and is a bit repetitive
- The in-game radio is terribly annoying
- Unskippable dialogues
- Some unresolved threads

The navigator's head makes an appearance!

[PC] DoomRL 0.9.9.7 (2013)

How:
Don't remember, probably found after playing NetHack.
Pros:
- Very accessible for roguelike newbies, the complexity can be explored gradually
- Very replayable, provides several challenges and achievements
- Great atmosphere
- Winning is not close to impossible, unlike many other roguelikes
- Allows for quick sessions
Cons:
- Music is too much intense and distracting

One of my winning characters in the Angel of Berserk (melee-only) challenge.
My PC as of April 2018. Won a total of 3 games (2 easy, 1 medium).

[PC] Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar (1985)

How:
Got it for free on GOG.
Notes:
I solved the game almost entirely on my own, except for the dungeon maps.
I never found and used the silver horn to bypass the 100 daemons guarding the shrine of humility. I instead fought all of them.
Pros:
- Heavily dialogue-based, makes exploration interesting and rewarding
- Some convenient interface changes, also easier and quicker fights
- You can ask people to join the party
- Very non-linear
- Battles take place in several different environments, allowing for some strategy
- Food depletes slowly, is shared within the party, and is not a hassle anymore
- Finally, enemies have no diagonal movement (still diagonal attack though)
Cons:
- No music in the original PC version
- Combat can be very slow when many characters are involved
- Getting a ship is still a pain in the ass
- Ships can be destroyed even when parked, forcing you to find another one
- Wind when sailing is still a HUGE pain in the ass
My final character stats.
Only 91,682 turns!

An Indiana Jones reference!
Encounters on bridges involve trolls. Nice touch!
Gazers - another type of beholders (strictly speaking these are all called "beholderkin").
