Cons:
- Cumbersome and annoying inventory management

[PC] Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender Bender (1992)

How:
Got on GOG on a Black Friday sale.
Pros:
- Nice sci-fi setting
- Nice minimalistic background music
- Nice graphics and animations
Cons:
- Slow movement, not possible to skip
- Basic inventory-oriented puzzles
- Fonts are large and hard to read

Taking a leak - first time ever in a game?
Cosmic innuendos.

I thought the scribblings would be password or coordinates, but apparently they appear in other Microprose adventures (e.g. Dragonsphere).

[PC] DoomRL 0.9.9.7 (2013)

How:
Don't remember, probably found after playing NetHack.
Pros:
- Very accessible for roguelike newbies, the complexity can be explored gradually
- Very replayable, provides several challenges and achievements
- Great atmosphere
- Winning is not close to impossible, unlike many other roguelikes
- Allows for quick sessions
Cons:
- Music is too much intense and distracting

One of my winning characters in the Angel of Berserk (melee-only) challenge.
My PC as of April 2018. Won a total of 3 games (2 easy, 1 medium).

[PC] Call of Cthulhu: Shadow of the Comet (1993)

How:
Read about it on Hardcoregaming101, bought it on GOG during a winter sale.
Pros:
- Cool creepy atmosphere and story
- Some nice puzzles
- Very nice graphics
Cons
- Spooky but very repetitive music
- Unintuitive interface, sometimes you must Use items, sometimes you just need to have them in your hands in the right place at the right time
- Easy to lose bearings in town, and understand which locations are accessible
- Slow dialogues
- Possible dead-ends
- Too much trial-and-error towards the end

The game comes with a separate mini-game called "Lovecraft Museum".

[PC] I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream (1995)

How:
Read about it on videogame magazines at the time, bought it on GOG during a winter sale.
Pros:
- Very cool graphics
- Six different settings with cool story, cool characters, great dialogues, and nice puzzles
- Amazing mood overall
- Different ways to do things
- Very good voice-overs
Cons:
- Some glitches and dead ends. I had to resort to a walkthrough to get the correct sequence of actions to finish Garrister's episode (even though I did the same things on my own, but in a different order).
- Some showstopping bugs
- The MIDI soundtrack is a bit neutral

Cool Alien-ish prehistoric mood

[PC] Harvester (1996)

How:
Got in on GOG during a winter sale.
Pros:
- Multiple ways to do things, and optional paths
- Captivating story, cool endings
- Nice in-game videos
- Some nice puzzles
Cons:
- While you can type questions in dialogue, each NPC only understand specific keywords (e.g. you can not ask your brother about "dad"). Then it is useless, just keep all the keywords in the list.
- Lots of game glitches
- Uninspired, repetitive music
- Tedious action sequences that just consist in button smashing
- Some annoying pixel hunting

Might as well be taken from a Lynch movie

[PC] Fallout (1997)

How:
Got during a Fallout series giveaway (which means FREE!) at GOG.com.
Note:
I got lucky and got the alien blaster by chance quite early in the game.
Pros:
- Great isometric graphics
- Very cool atmoshpere, setting and lore
- Combat can be unforgiving, and detracts the player from pure grinding
- Well balanced economy, you never have too much money
- Nice turn-based combat system
- A limited but cool arsenal and set of items to use (including drugs)
- Cool lore
- Non-linear gameplay and quests
- A nice variety of death animations depending on the weapon used
Cons:
- Sometimes difficult to control in occluded areas
- Can't reach areas that the main character cannot see; this makes moving in towns very tedious
- Some possible walking dead situations
- Music is a bit forgettable
- Few side quests
- There is a lot of content which is never explored because of the unpredictable outcome of choices
- Carry weight is fairly limited
- Very few companions, with almost no control over them
- Some obscure puzzles (connect a radio to a computer in order to control force fields?)

Pros:
- Excellent voice-overs

- Captivating story with a deep meaning
- Simple but nice puzzles
- Very good dialogues
- Weird etherogeneous graphical / animation style, which surprisingly works

How:
Got as a birthday present from my brother, via GOG.com.

- Some frustrating timed sequences
- Very repetitive setting

[PC] Still Life (2005)

How:
Played the demo when the game was out, bought it during Anuman Games sales at GOG.com.
Pros:
- All dialogues are recorded and readable through the in-game log
- Cool music and graphics, perfectly fitting the mood
- Several cinematic cut-scenes
- Nice story, keeps the interest high
- Excellent voice-overs
Cons:
- Dialogue trees are non-existent, you just keep clicking and the main character decides what to say
- Almost trivial puzzles, alternated with very obscure ones (e.g. the lockpicking puzzle)
- Very little items to interact with
- The investigative aspects are limited and concentrated in the initial part. What happened to the photo taking feature?

[PC] Sanitarium (1998)

How:
Played the demo when it came out, finally bought it during Halloween sales at GOG.com.
Pros:
- Cool isometric view
- Nice music fitting well the creepy mood
- Plenty of cut-scenes
- Engaging story with a slowly unraveling mystery
Cons:
- Some game-breaking bugs and crashes
- Puzzles tend to be sparse and easy, they mostly serve to move the story along
- Lack of dialogue continuity; the character reacts to dialogue in a fixed manner even if he already has the information he needs

[Amiga] Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)

How:
Played on the Amiga as a kid, never finished it because the game crashed in the catacombs. Eventually found it again in my Gamebase Amiga collection.
Endgame:
Actually I didn't manage to complete the game since I couldn't identify the correct grail to pick at the end (tried all of them --should have read a certain message in the catacombs in order to be able to finish the game). Obviously didn't feel like going through the maze sequences again to properly finish the game.
Pros:
- The game introduces the Talk verb and dialogue trees for the first time
- Very good graphics (only 16 colors!)
- Smooth animations
- Very good puzzles
- Cool, adventurous settings
Cons:
- Character interaction feels a bit rushed (especially between Indy and Elsa Schneider)
- The game follows the movie a bit too closely
- Terribly annoying maze sequences, especially in the zeppelin
- Very frustrating and repetitive dialogue puzzles, the only way to solve them is via trial-and-error
- Mediocre music
- Fights are annoying, useless and basically unwinnable
- The game starts very well, but completely changes for the worst after the catacombs
- I've never used the Load game feature so much in any other game before
- Dead-ends

Visited Screen7 website after finishing The Visitor, found out about this second episode and downloaded it.
Pros:
- Very good puzzles
- Very good pace and rather lengthy
- Fun and rewarding
- You get to play as a laboratory slime!
- Nice animations, a good improvement over the first episode
- Nice setting
Cons:
- An annoying reaction puzzle at the beginning of the game (avoiding to get ran over by a car)

- Great attention to detail (everything has a description)
- Some well done red herrings
- Nice and coherent graphics overall
Cons:
- Very few, unbalanced sound effects
- Very sparse animations
- Clunky character design

[PC] Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh (1996)

How:
Had as a Christmas gift by my brother from my GoG wishlist.
Pros:
- Cool music fitting the b-movie atmosphere
- The final part (the alien planet) is nice and more adventure-like
- Some cool cut-scenes, especially at the end (meeting the alien, etc.)
- Decent special effects
Cons:
- Dull story even for a b-movie
- Very unlikable characters, the main character in particular
- Boring and very repetitive gameplay, consisting on clicking on everything everywhere
- Very few puzzles
- Only 5 places to visit on the map

How:
Read about it on Gnomeslair, and enjoyed the demo. Finally bought it with the Bundle in a Box Adventure Bundle.

- Rather polished, with great care for details
- Very consistent graphic style and nice animations
- Full of cutscene events and happenings
- Nice and well balanced puzzles
- Very good writing and humour, cool characters
- Probably a sequel coming up!
Cons:
- Crash when saving the game! Had to complete it in one go

How:
Read the review on AdventureClassicGaming, got convinced by the graphics. Was already keeping an eye on Midian Design anyway.
Pros:
- Nice graphics and mood

Cons:
- Very short, a lot of wasted potential
- Clunky animations
- No voiceovers
- Most inventory items are never used

- Incredibly clichéd
- Very few puzzles
